Prague, 14 November 2023 - Illicit drug use among adults is stable and even declining among children and adolescents. However, the overuse of psychoactive medicines among the elderly and women is on the rise, according to a press release issued today by the National Drug Policy Coordinator.
The Government Council for Addiction Policy Coordination today approved two comprehensive reports:
- Report on Illicit Drugs in the Czech Republic 2023
- Report on Problematic Use of Psychoactive Medicines in the Czech Republic 2023.
The reports provide new estimates of the number of people using illegal drugs and the number of people at risk of dependence on psychoactive medicines. They confirm high rates of overuse of sedatives and opioid analgesics and provide data on kratom use.
The reports have been published in Czech only. They can be found on the Czech version of this website under the menu Zpravy, odborne publikace a casopis - Zpravy o situaci.
