Planning a Service for Young People: an Overview
Organised by DrugScope events. Information: This course is aimed at managers and comissioners of drug services. Young people need different of drug services to adults. The triggers for their drug use are often different to those that drive adult users, young people are treadet differently under the law, and they respond to a different kind of worker-client interaction. This two-day course helps workers develop an understanding of drug misuse among young people in the context of youth culture, and an awareness of the law, in particular in relation to confidentiality and child protection. Participants learn about the ten key policy principles governing the delivery of drug services to young people, discuss practical approaches to working with them, and develop an action plan for the development of an effective drug service that meets their specialised needs.
