Reitox Map of Addiction Care in Europe

The List of facilities (Austria) contains only such facilities per province, which can be contacted in case of OST. This list does not contain all OST facilities, but can be seen as a selection for first contact.

On-line information is available in German language only, under the title „Suchthilfekompass / ambulante Einrichtungen“.  

For Belgium, a list of treatment centres (PDF; 215 kB) is available as attachment (download starts immediately after clicking). There is the following information: name of the treatment centre, province, type of centre (ambulant, residential, low-threshold), website, telephone, address of the main location and mother tongue (Netherlands or French).

The list was provided by the national focal point; date of publication 17.07.2018.

The Map of National Addiction Centres and Programmes is available in Bulgarian and English languages. There are shown cities with outpatient centres. After clicking, a page with detailed information opens - address, contact, specification, criteria for admission of a client... 

The English version of the map does not cover all facilities, listed in the Bulgarian version of the map; if no information available in English, after clicking on the name of such city, a blank page is shown.

The website "Službe za zaštitu mentalnog zdravlja - Službe za zaštitu mentalnog zdravlja i prevenciju ovisnosti" contains a list facilities with contacts, sorted by regions (counties). There are listed the services for mental health and addiction prevention.

The website is in Croatian language only.

The website contains a map of services including substitution therapy; after clicking a card with contacts and detailed map with location of the facility opens. Bellow the map is information sorted by regions. 

The website is in the Greek language only but is possible to let it google translated with good result. A PDF leaflet is downloadable on https://www.naac.org.cy/uploads/treatment/92b766b344.pdf (Greek language). 

Map of Aid - contacts and addresses of facilities providing services, counselling and prevention activities by regions of the Czech Republic and type of service.

The Map of Aid is available at the Czech National Drug Information Website (drogy-info.cz), in English and Czech languages. The website contains a clickable map and search in the database by type of facility and region.

Information on legislation is available in the Czech language only, at the homepage of drogy-info.cz; open the section "Legislativa".

Website of the Estonian National Institute for Health Development, section Teenused ja lepingupartnerid (Services and contractors) contains a PDF, where all treatment services in Estonia are listed. The list is available in Estonian only - click on the words Uimastisõltlastele suunatud nõustamis-, ravi- ja rehabilitatsiooniteenused (Counseling, treatment and rehabilitation services for drug addicts) for download of the PDF. Register of social and health care units (TOPI) lists all units which provide data for the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). The search engine is available only in Finnish, and the units can be searched, for instance, by name, municipality or postcode.

Searching by a key word 'päihde*' the engine lists most of the units providing drug and alcohol treatment. After the search is completed, in Chrome the Google translate option may be used and the results are readable in other languages (tested by the website editor for English with good result). The list is not comprehensive as it is limited to data providers only.

For France (Mainland France, Guadeloupe, Guiana, Martinique, La Réunion island, Mayotte), there is one database listing all addiction treatment structures "Adresses utiles" (Useful addresses) on the website DROGUESINFOSERVICE.FR. The database and website are in French only, but may be Google translated.

Search may be proceeded geographically or using the multi-criteria search which then list the type of structure - specialised drug treatment centres (CSAPA), low-threshold facilities (CAARUD), syringe exchange programmes or dispensing units, drug consumption rooms, therapeutic communities, self-support groups - and type of activities performed (prevention/counselling, harm reduction, treatment/care).

Information for travelling French citizens taking substitution treatment is available information on the page Voyager à l'étranger avec un traitement de substitution.

For Germany, various online information resources may be used.  Most of the websites are in German language but may be Google translated.

All types of addiction treatment centres (in-patient, out-patient, counselling, self-help groups) may be searched on the site Einrichtungssuche (Facility search), which is part of the website Deutsche Hauptstelle für Suchtfragen (dhs.de) or alternatively on the website of the Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung (Federal Center for Health Education ) under the title Verzeichnis der Suchtberatungsstellen (Directory of addiction advice centers). 

Information on treatment options categorised by type of treatment centre (Specialist clinics, Adaptation devices, Sociotherapeutic Facilities/Assisted Living, Day clinics, Outpatient treatment and counseling centres) maybe searched on the website of the Fachverband Sucht e.V. (FVS). The FVS association is a nationally active association in which institutions are united, which are dedicated to the treatment, care and advice of addicts. 

Phone Counselling is provided by the

• Addiction & Drugs Hotline - for illegal drugs; anonymous, but the calls are paid. Information about the project background is on the website Hilfe (Help);
• Crystal Hotline - for new psychoactive substances (anonymous, free). Information is on the website Hilfe für Angehörige und Betroffene crystal-hotline.de.
• Alkohol? Kenn dein Limit - phone counselling for alcohol users (paid phone calls) and also for parents who are concerned about the alcohol intake of their children. The website Alkohol? Kenn dein Limit (Alcohol? Know your limit) is administered by the Federal Center for Health Education. 

Online counselling is available on 2 websites:

• LegalHighIntahaltsStoffe.de - information on new psychoactive substances and online counselling; website available in English and German.
• Drugcom.de - lots of information about legal and illegal drugs (alcohol, nicotine, cannabis). Online counselling (chat or e-mail counselling) may be accessed via the section Drogenberatung online (Drug counselling online).

Information for travellers who take substitution treatment substances is on the website INDRO e.V.  There is general information (basic recommendation regarding the planning of travels) and links to specific country information. The site is available in English and German.

The website Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe (German AIDS-Help) contains information about HIV/Aids, hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections. The site is available in English and German.

Information about the centres/programmes/services that operate in Greece is provided in the Inventory of Prevention and Treatment Units, published by the Greek REITOX Focal Point and available at its website ektepn.gr (in Greek). OKANA and KETHEA, the main organisations in the field of addiction, have maps with contact details of their units throughout Greece.

Regarding the substitution treatment facilities for visitors from abroad, please see the relevant document by OKANA, the organisation responsible for substitution treatment in Greece, or contact OKANA per e-mail, okana@okana.gr. The website is in Greek, but may be Google translated in the browser Chrome.

The REITOX Hungarian National Focal Point operates the Drug Service Locator Portal. The portal gathers Hungarian drug prevention and addiction treatment programmes and facilities. The searches can be filtered by geographical location and service types. The list of results can be exported.

The search engine visualises the service providers on Google Maps along all information available, such as: location, contact information, services provided and short descriptions of the programmes. The Drug Service Locator Portal is available only in Hungarian, but may be Google translated.

The National Directory of Drugs and Alcohol Services offers simple search on type of service and county or advanced search of the services and map search. The directory is part of the website DRUGS.ie - Drug and Alcohol Information and support. The homepage of the directory specifies types of services.

"HSE DRUG AND ALCOHOL HELPLINE" helpline is available for on-phone consultancy and online "Live Help" chat service offers anonymous talk to a consultant.

For Italy, a list of public centres for drug dependence treatment (PDF; 462 KB) is available as attachment (download start immediately after clicking). There are listed only names of the centres and their e-mail addresses. Therapeutic communities are not in this list.

The Google map Drug Addiction Services - LATVIA shows location of the addiction treatment services and HIV/AIDS prevention services of Latvia.

In the legend, or after clicking on the map, specification of the service, its address, contact phone or e-mail and website of the facility opens (not all information for all the services available). The legend to the map is in the Latvian and English language.

List of contacts is available in PDF. The list contains names, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and websites of the following types of care: psychological social rehabilitation (short-term social care) centres, centres for addiction disorders, mental health care centres.

List of contacts "RELIS" (182 kB) and an extract from the national drug report 2017 (16 kB) are available in PDF (download start immediately after clicking).

The list contains names of the institutions and their website, address, name and position of a contact person, e-mail, type of service and short description of the institution.

The extract of the national drug report contains a list/summary description of the national addiction treatment centres and programmes.

The Alcohol and Drugs Information System "LADIS" website is available in English and Dutch languages. The section Participating institutions shows a list with names of the institutions and their location in the country (not full address).

After clicking the name of the institution, website of the institution opens, either in the same or in new window. Most of the websites are in Dutch but may be Google translated. Original English website is available for the GGD Amsterdam.

ZorgkaartNederland is the largest experiential site for Dutch health care where people share their experiences with care. The website offers you information to choose a healthcare provider that fits best. ZorgkaartNederland is a website of Patiëntenfederatie Nederland (patients association). Search on the website Zorgkaart Nederland shows about 220 healthcare providers with the text "addiction care" (after clicking the link, you get to a search result, which shows the relevant organizations - see below).

The website is Dutch only but may be Google translated. The search shows cards with name of the organisation, location and rating. The results are sorted by relevance. After clicking a name of organization, a detailed card with address, phone number, link to website, ratings for last 3 years and locations (some organizations have more as one location/clinic) opens. Explanation How does the Zorgkaart Nederland work (link bellow the search result), may be also translated by Google translator.

The website helsenorge.no provide an overview of services under the title Ventetider for Alkoholproblemer, rus- og avhengighetsbehandling (Waiting for alcohol problems, addiction and addiction).

The site is in Norwegian only but may be Google translated. After clicking the name of the facility, the following data unfold: visiting address, mailing address, phone number, information "how to choose this treatment site", quality indicators, and "travel and expenses" (note: the last probably does not apply to people without local health insurance).

On the National Bureau for Drug Prevention website are available two sources of information:

• A booklet containing information on all treatment centres (PDF; 1 177 kB; download starts immediately after clicking) published in the bulletin Narkomania, VIII edition 2017 Gdzie szukać pomocy? - Informator na temat placówek udzielających pomocy osobom z problemem narkotykowym (Where to find help? - Guidebook on institutions providing assistance to people with a drug problem). Information is sorted by regions and in each chapter, further sorted by the type of service;
• The webpage Wyszukiwarka bazy placówek (Search for the facility), where a search based on region and type of service is possible; the page is in Polish language but may be Google translated.

The website SICAD contains database of organizations; a search result is available under the title EXISTING STRUCTURES (CIDADAO - Estructuras Existentes). The site is available in the Portuguese language only but may be Google translated. English version of the SICAD website does not contain the part "Existing Structures". 

The search result shows names of organizations (14 pages on a large computer screen); details open after clicking. Advanced search is possible by Activity, District and County. After clicking a result, details such as the postal address, phone number and e-mail open. General location is shown already in the main search.

Website INFODROGY.sk contains section Help and Support (Pomoc a podpora). In this section, the following information is available: 

• Advising on the Drug Information Portal - on-line counselling and FAQ;
• Directory of Institutions and Organizations - contacts to drug treatment centres, resocialization centres, low-threshold services for drug users (in particular needle and syringe exchange programs), but also contacts to various counselling centres, abstinent clubs, and more.
• Emergency help - phone contacts for various crises - emergency lines, trust lines, and help.

The website is in Slovak language only but may be Google translated.

Contacts may be searched on the key words "preprečevanje odvisnosti od drog". By this search, one of results is the website INFOPEKA. Under the title Aid in need, health/addiction (Pomoč v stiski, zdravje / Odvisnosti) various help centres and programmes are listed. After clicking the name of organization/programme, their website opens.

The website INFOPEKA is in Slovenian language only but may be Google translated. 

Ayuda Cerca de tí: Centros de Atención a las Adicciones (Help near you: Addiction Care Centers) - a tool providing information of the Addiction Care Centers in Spain by Autonomous Region, Province or Address. Available is also a map. The website is in Spanish only; the site may be Google translated, but the translation is not processed properly.

For search, the window Datos de mapas por localización shall be used; there are the categories: autonome community (Comunidad Autonóma; unfoldable menu; the highest level of administrative division of the country), province (Provincia), and possibly also address or municipality and/or postcode. The search shall be started by clicking the word Buscar (Search). Results open as a list containing also links to websites of the facility and information, which, unfortunatelly, is not possible to google translate. Main info, such as contact phone (teléphonos de contacto), mail and website (página web) are understandable also for English speaking persons.

Local and national services that provide counselling and treatment in England may be found on the website FRANK, section Getting help / Find support. Simple search or a list of all services is available; live chat, e-mail and phone (call or SMS) consultancy options are offered on the website. 

For Scotland, the services may be searched on the Scottish Drug Services website.

For Wales, visit the Dan website.

For Northern Ireland, visit the Public Health Agency website.
