Today, the EMCDDA is holding the second annual meeting of its Legal and policy correspondents’ network for non-EU partners, following an inaugural meeting in October 2021.
The EMCDDA’s regular EU Legal and policy correspondents’ network was established in 2000 to exchange information on drug laws and policies. In 2021, the agency enlarged the scope of its work in this area by building a second network of correspondents from the partners of the EMCDDA technical cooperation projects (IPA7 and EU4MD).

Staff members of the Georgian national drug observatory (NDO) are at the EMCDDA this week for a workshop on drug monitoring and reporting. The event is taking place under the technical cooperation project EMCDDA4Georgia (EMCDDA4GE). The NDO, based at the Georgian Ministry of Justice, is the EMCDDA’s principal counterpart in the project and serves as the main coordinating body for drug monitoring in the country.

Representatives of candidate, potential candidate and neighbouring countries of the EU are joining members of the EMCDDA’s Reitox network this week (10–13 May) for the agency’s tenth Reitox week. The purpose of this annual event is to broaden the scope of the regular Heads of national focal point (NFP) meetings, underline the usefulness of the EU drug monitoring model, add impetus to the agency’s technical cooperation with partners outside the EU and to learn from each other’s experience.
